Eagles?

Message #MB403; Daily Devotional #2 - “Eagles?”

Preparing the Soil (Introduction):  The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still. (Exodus 14:14)  The battle has indeed been the Lord’s from the beginning. Through the ages, God has shown Himself strong for His own (2 Chronicles 16:9). Christ followers are faced with life struggles and challenges in the world just like everyone else. The ‘big difference’ for Christ followers is that the Captain of the Hosts, Jesus, is always on our winning side of the battle!

Planting and Watering the Seed (Growth):  I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you. Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you. (Psalm 32:8-9)  One of the most important strategies for believers is to know what the Lord has to say in every situation. Young children often dutifully wait for instructions from their parents or guardians. I have even heard some children seeking permission to visit the restroom in their own homes. God expects His children to seek His face and counsel for every move. This involves praying and waiting on the Lord even with fasting, separating ourselves to God. During the Exodus, I love the way Moses received ‘step by step’ instructions from God in leading the people. Notice that the battle was not won in a day, but rather there were series of challenges and obstacles on the road to victory. At every stage Moses would return to God to seek His face and wait on Him for the next move on behalf of the people. (Exodus 14:15-16). When we allow God’s counsel alone to stand in our lives, He beautifies our lives and makes perfect all that concerns us. Today, our lives can constantly be a ‘picture’ of Jesus as we allow the Holy Spirit to teach us and lead us in the path of righteousness. Those that are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God (Romans 8:14).  I particularly enjoy the Holy Spirit’s leading at the busiest points in my life. It is usually when I try to pack so much into a day, then stop to think of what needs to be done, that I realize it is not humanly possible to do it all. In the midst of it all, it is always a blessing to just stop to call upon, and then wait on, the Lord who has been present from the start of the day. Sometimes I receive counsel to do my tasks in a particular order. Other times God makes me see why some things do not have to be done at that time. God is interested in every detail of our life!

Harvesting the Crop (Action/Response):  He gives power to the faint; and to them that have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall; but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:29-31, KJV)  The Lord counsels and guides us through life by His Spirit when we wait upon Him. Just like eagles, we are renewed in strength and can soar with wings like eagles. Take time to seek God. Make a habit of praying, fasting, and waiting to hear from God. The Lord speaks to us by the Holy Spirit, through His Word, or even by a witness in our spirit. The Lord is faithful to order your footsteps and make your paths straight before Him.
