The US on Monday expressed concern over Israel's approval of 942 housing units in Jerusalem's Gilo neighborhood as well as the approval of master plans for several West Bank settlements that is expected to lead to increased building in those areas. "The United States is deeply concerned by continuing Israeli actions with respect to settlement construction," ABC News quoted White House National Security Staff spokesman Tommy Vietor as saying.
The British government has said that it does not support a call for a retraction of the Goldstone Report. The comments followed Judge Richard Goldstone's opinion piece in Friday's Washington Post in which he indicated that Israel had not deliberately targeted civilians or committed war crimes during Operation Cast Lead.

ICC is a human rights group promoting religious freedom and assisting Christian victims of persecution.
An additional battery of the Iron Dome anti-rocket system will be deployed on Monday (Apr. 4) in southern Israel, according to Galatz (Army Radio). The battery, operated by commanders and soldiers of the IAF's aerial defense network, will be deployed in as part of efforts to protect residents of the Israeli cities of Ashkelon and Ashdod against rocket fire from the Gaza Strip. This is the second Iron Dome battery deployed in southern Israel over the past few weeks. The first battery was deployed in the Be'er Sheba region the week of March 27th.
Turkish sources report today that Qaddafi envoy Deputy FM Abed Al’Aiti Al’Abidi will arrive in Turkey to request assistance in reaching a cease-fire with rebel forces. A government source said to the French news agency that both sides in Libya made the request of Turkey. The envoy Abed Al’Aiti Al’Abidi had discussions in Greece on Sunday.

The United States has quietly frozen weapon shipments to Lebanon's armed forces following the collapse of the country's pro-Western government, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday. The arms freeze was recently approved by Defense Secretary Robert Gates, but the decision has not been publicly announced because of concerns the disclosure could interfere with delicate internal negotiations in Lebanon, the paper said, according to AFP.
The Jerusalem Planning and Building Committee will discuss Monday construction of 942 housing units in the Gilo neighborhood in the south of the city, beyond the Green Line. The plan has been already been approved at the district level. If it is confirmed by the local committee, the public will be invited to voice objections to it.
