Unforgiveness, hatred, and bitterness have repercussions far greater than I might think. That is why in the book of Jude, God specifically says to watch out for the way of Cain, which is bitterness, unforgiveness, and hatred (verse 11). Make sure there’s no one you’re mad at, upset with, or angry about because it only takes one person to affect many. Ask Cain.  “The blood of your brother cries out to Me.” The writer of Hebrews picks up this metaphor when he declares, “Jesus’ blood speaks better things than the blood of Abel” (see 12:24). What does Abel’s blood cry? It’s a message of condemnation, judgment, and accusation. What does Jesus’ blood cry? It cries, “Forgiven.”  If there is an old boyfriend, ex-spouse, parent, or boss you’re mad at, whose name still comes up when you talk to people, God would say, “My Son was slaughtered on the cross for the very sin that person committed against you. Let it go. Give it up. Put it under the blood that speaks better things. Lay it at the cross.”
