Warning Signs
For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.
Hebrews 10:26-27
When we come to Chapter 5 in the Book of Genesis, it speaks about death. As you go through verses 1-20, everyone dies, but when you come to verses 21-24, it breaks the cycle of death and says, And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him. Enoch became a warning from God that He was getting ready to bring judgment upon the world.
God gave Enoch a son whom he named Methuselah, which means, “when he shall die, it shall come.” What shall come? The flood. God always gives a sign, and God always gives a space of time to repent before He judges. Remember that. No one can ever say, “God never gave me an opportunity.” He gives everyone an opportunity.
Pastor Chuck Smith was sharing how many times we blame God for everything, and yet if we willfully sin against God, we cannot blame Him. Unlike a person in the jungles of Brazil who worships the sun and the moon; they are doing it out of ignorance. We know God and we know the truth of God. It is not out of ignorance we sin; it is a transgression; it is willful.
When the judgment of God comes, we have more responsibility than the person who never heard of Him. Think about it—the more light, the more judgment.
Responsibility walks hand in hand with
capacity and power.
