ASK: "Sin In The Fellowship"

Sin In The Fellowship

Q.  I was just reading your response to 1 Corinthians 6:9-11,  my question is concerning homosexuality. These days it seems that even in churches, the homosexual lifestyle is being accepted.  Is some one who is living an active homosexual lifestyle and proclaiming that they are christian, saved? I find it confusing because sin is sin in Gods eye’s, and we all sin regardless of how hard we try not to. So where do these people stand?

A.  Like you say, we all sin regardless of how hard we try not to, and homosexuality is just like any other sin.  As to where they stand, 1 Cor. 5:11 says we shouldn’t associate with believers who are sexually immoral, or greedy, or slanderers, or drunkards, or swindlers.  To me this means we’re not to  tolerate any openly sinful behavior in our churches, but we should understand that a homosexual can be saved just like any other kind of sinner, because it’s what we believe that saves us, not how we behave.
