Salvation And The Eye Of A Needle

Q. Why does the Bible give the example of “It is easy to go to an eye of needle?” And why did Peter ask “Who can be saved?”

A. The quote actually says that it’s easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God. (Mark 10:25) The Lord was exaggerating to make a point. Since a camel can’t get through the eye of a needle, he was commenting on the difficulty of rich people becoming saved. This is because the love of money so often distracts them, even becoming an idol to them.

When Peter asked Him who can be saved, Jesus said that with man it’s impossible but not with God. All things are possible with God. (Mark 10:27) God sent His son to die for our sins, even the sin of idolatry that afflicts so many of the rich.
