One Thousand Years: Genesage "The Conversation pt 1" (Chapter 9:8)

One Thousand Years

Genesage

“The Conversation pt 1"

(Chapter 9:8)

Thomas sat with God

Head uncovered from any shawl, no glory obvious to any eye, it was God before Him. Looking into this face was looking at deformity. Scared, still marred beyond recognition, his visage was revolting. Thomas recalled how when “with Jesus” what he had appeared as. Now…Thomas shuddered as the fire showed clearly what mankind had done.

What He had done.

The most horrific event a person could imagine had taken place.   Unless that person had seen the “Wrath of God” poured out upon a rebellious world; a sinful generation, an evil time, a fallen creation, and the evil one.  Being a “Survivor” Thomas had seen that, and it had driven him mad.

This, this was….wrong.

It felt so out of place. Not in sync. Hideous because eyes lids shred, face torn, no blood, but misshapen from torture and scourging. It was the Wrath of satanic Mankind poured out as those who did strike the blows were possessed at the time. Evil had come to prove its case and lost, the evidence now obvious. His tortured face cried out to be held. Begged to be healed. Thomas wished in some ways the Son of Man would cover himself with his hood.

“If your right eye offends you, pluck it out, better to enter into the Kingdom marred”

Looking at the face of God, Thomas knew there was nothing symbolic in the words of Jesus back then. Looking at this Man of God, this God, he knew Jesus was serious. No matter what it took, Jesus did it for the Kingdom to Come for Man to enter in.

But Jesus was the only one who could….who could,

Go this all this and still

For…,

Thomas couldn’t say the Word.

He wouldn’t say the word. Look at it. All that man had done? This? And this “man” could for…for…NO!!

Thomas refused to let his thoughts consider it.

Face to face God looked at Thomas.

Thomas unabashed looked back at that face. Look into those eyes, Look into that soul. Jesus spoke to Thomas. Jesus ate with Thomas. Jesus loved on Thomas in a way only a God can to a Man. Companions of great suffering relate personally to each other. Comrades-in-Arms often form unshakable bonds. People who face death together form an intimacy far beyond the confines or boundaries most know.

There is respect two people can have for each other when they know the other has been there. When the other person has been where they have been, seen what they have seen, felt what they have felt.

The two of them had. They had “lived” life together. And for one, Thomas, he would never be  the same.

The admiration they shared for seeing  the acceptance and love between them was real with no pretense. Thomas already worshipped the man for his thoughts and actions.  There is a love men said they had in combat situations when years of fighting produces someone who “has your back”.

But it only scratches the surface of how a God with his creation can meet one to one on an equal plane and be filled.

This is what Adam had in the cool of the day.

This is what Thomas needed.

This was why Jesus died.

Jesus explained his Life to him.  The Book of the Life of Thomas from God the Author of it. Meaning, design and purpose was easily set forth by Creator of it.  Years later Thomas would recall slowly parts of what he was told. That night though it simply went into Him, changing him.

All he could to that night was to listen to the  words  which seemed to burn into His heart.

Jesus spoke to Him and answered the burning question everyone had before meeting Jesus.

Why?

Thomas knew why.
