LastCall: Is He Really My Lord? -My Utmost for His Highest

Is He Really My Lord?

. . . so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus . . . —Acts 20:24

Joy comes from seeing the complete fulfillment of the specific purpose for which I was created and born again, not from successfully doing something of my own choosing. The joy our Lord experienced came from doing what the Father sent Him to do. And He says to us, "As the Father has sent Me, I also send you" (John 20:21 ). Have you received a ministry from the Lord? If so, you must be faithful to it— to consider your life valuable only for the purpose of fulfilling that ministry. Knowing that you have done what Jesus sent you to do, think how satisfying it will be to hear Him say to you, "Well done, good and faithful servant" ( Matthew 25:21 ). We each have to find a niche in life, and spiritually we find it when we receive a ministry from the Lord. To do this we must have close fellowship with Jesus and must know Him as more than our personal Savior. And we must be willing to experience the full impact of Acts 9:16 — "I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name’s sake."

"Do you love Me?" Then, "Feed My sheep" ( John 21:17  ). He is not offering us a choice of how we can serve Him; He is asking for absolute loyalty to His commission, a faithfulness to what we discern when we are in the closest possible fellowship with God. If you have received a ministry from the Lord Jesus, you will know that the need is not the same as the call— the need is the opportunity to exercise the call. The call is to be faithful to the ministry you received when you were in true fellowship with Him. This does not imply that there is a whole series of differing ministries marked out for you. It does mean that you must be sensitive to what God has called you to do, and this may sometimes require ignoring demands for service in other areas.

One Thousand Years: Genesage "Thou Shalt not Kill" (Chp 6:8)

One Thousand Years

Genesage

"Thou Shalt not Kill"

(Chp 6:8)

"Come."

Tom was back to the present again.

Glazed in his perspective, his gaze showed Tom was still transitioning from memory to reality. Crossing back from where he had been. At least in thought, and for Tom, experience.

In the here and now, Rose held all of the most pure intents and feelings.

She had triggered the recumbent memories Tom had suppressed.  She was the one who he had felt was inside him looking at what Tom alone felt was his. Those things too personal for Tom to admit. Too real for Tom to deny. A part of Him he kept to himself, for himself.

He had no idea they were his own personal cancer.

Rose Knew.

She had flooded through Tom as though the entire Universe stood still and waited…..,

As though the Universe had witnessed with Tom’s recollections, all that had occurred from Toms viewpoint.

Now Tom stood in resistance to Rose.

He would not step forward, he dare not.

The strong west wind rolled in like thunder.

No one had felt the wind blow hard but this felt…personal.

Caleb and Tom heard what words were said. How could they not as it seemed to emanate from the ground, the air and their very cells. Burning in intensity its magnificence was as inspiring as its sheer holiness.

Nothing contrary could exist in its presence.

Nothing that contradicted the words would survive.

They said,

"Thou shalt not kill."

Booming in the thunder a second time all heard the voice.

It was everywhere inside and out. It was in every fiber of all beings.

It was Heard.

It was Felt.

It was Known.

It was God.

It was like the judgments the old timers had gone through in the Tribulation/Holocaust.

The angels flying through the air at times declaring the messages God had declared to them. Back then everyone had heard. Back then everyone knew what was being said. Everyone knew that an imminent judgment would occur, they were being warned.

And yet, even in the midst of already occurring judgments it still did not change many minds.

Not Back Then.

In those days the inevitably of the words precluded any action. It was declaration of intent. Portent and content was coming. It was stated so. Back then in the Judgments facts stated with consequential reality occurring.

God said it. It happened.

As laws of physics demanded action and reaction. Action had already previously occurred and incurred a reaction, 6000 years later the reaction came.,

It was not late, nor ever forgotten.

This voice, this word, this was obvious that an imminent judgment was occurring now.

No hesitation was implied. None inflected. Some action needed to be done to stave off the resulting verdict.

"No..,"

Tom with a still formed "no" pursed on his lips almost mindlessly stepped forward.

He reached The Rose outstretched limb. The withered limb, torn branch. The place that Tom had disgraced the offering of a life so freely existing to give.

Tom was joined to the outstretched arms of one of God’s Creation in the Millenium.

With thunder still echoing Caleb stood up and watched as Tom was gathered closer. Gathered in and enveloped.  Rose with all her "arms" embraced Tom. Wrapped him gently in her hold.

She whispered oh so gently,

"I forgive you."

The heavens felt as though they dissipated instantly.

All the building energy of the moment seemed to deflate. Everyone exhaled as if on cue. It was as if everyone had one breath and had been holding it. Now they could breathe again.

The tension was gone.

The judgment released.

The moment passed.

Rose died with Tom in her arms.

It was shocking. No one expected that feeling to hit each and every one of them, but it did.

A ribbon of life taunt and tense, each person had been held in the gaze of rose. Each had given and received from her “life” and the “love” now was instantly snapped.

The repercussions felt like a rubber band giving way and snapping.

At that moment a great emptiness was suddenly experienced that none had ever felt before but all knew. All felt it.

There was an instant when you almost felt alive in warmth and inner glow then suddenly a complete and utter vacancy inside. An absence of emotion. A bankruptcy of feeling.

Devoid of the emanations that had been Rose, gravity felt as though it had increased a hundred fold.

Wariness of soul prevailed and all felt loss. Sorrow wanted to howl with no place to give it’s voice in a place and time that had not known sin.

Rose was gone.

LastCall: An Evil Spirit From God? -Grace Thru Faith

An Evil Spirit From God?

Q. I am hoping you’ll be able to help me understand 1 Samuel 16 v 14.  I came across it recently and it has really stumped me.  It says, “then the spirit of the Lord departed from Saul and a distressing spirit from the Lord troubled him”.  Do you know what it means when it says ‘a distressing spirit from the Lord’? It seems odd as in the new testament James says that only good and perfect gifts are from above. Are you able to shed any light on this for me at all?

A. The Hebrew word translated distressing in your Bible means evil.  James 1:17doesn’t say “only good and perfect gifts are from above”, it says “every good and perfect gift is from above”.  There’s a big difference.

As for Saul, he had disobeyed the Lord and was being disciplined. The Lord had removed the Holy Spirit from Saul and sent an evil spirit to torment him.  He did this by granting Satan access to Saul.

It’s important to remember that the Holy Spirit is sealed within us and can’t be removed (Ephes 1:13-14).  That wasn’t true in Saul’s time, and it will no longer be true after the rapture. It’s a special blessing given only to the Church.

Natszal: HOW LONG? (1) "This Generation" -Daymond Duck

The Rapture Series

Why Do you Believe?          What Do you Believe?             How Do You Believe?              Who Do You Believe?

“Reason to Believe”

HOW LONG?

(1)

THIS GENERATION

By Daymond Duck

The disciples asked Jesus, “What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the age” (Matthew 24:3)?

After several comments, Jesus said, “Verily I say unto you, this generation shall not pass away till all these things be fulfilled” (Matthew 24:34).

Controversy surrounds what He said. Some say “this generation” means the generation that was alive when Jesus was speaking. Most who believe this way spiritualize the Bible. They say Jesus came back about 2,000 years ago and that His return was a spiritual return. Others say “this generation” means the generation that sees “all these things” that Jesus had just mentioned in Matthew chapter 24. Most who believe this way take the Bible literally. And they say the return of Jesus is still future. It seems more likely that this second group is right.

For one thing, Jesus talked about “the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet standing in the Holy place” (Matthew 24:15). That didn’t happen in the generation Jesus was speaking to. But it will happen in the future when the Antichrist defiles the rebuilt Temple 3½ years after a seven-year covenant for peace in the Middle East. There’s no evidence of a seven-year covenant for peace in the Middle East when Jesus said these things.

For another thing, Jesus talked about “great tribulation such as was not since the beginning of the world, no nor ever shall be” (Matthew 24:21). It’s a stretch to say that 70 A.D. was worse than the Flood, worse than WWI, worse than WW II, worse than the Holocaust, or worse than anything that will happen in the future.

For another thing, Jesus said, “Except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved” (Matthew 24:21). No one came close to destroying the Romans Empire or everyone on earth in 70 A.D. There’s no evidence that Jesus came back and prevented anything like this from happening.

For another thing, Jesus said, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other” (Matthew 24:29-31). There’s no evidence of a darkened sun and moon, falling stars, everyone seeing Jesus, everyone on earth mourning, trumpets sounding, and all the elect being gathered together in 70 A.D.

Finally, Jesus told the parable of the fig tree (Matthew 24:32). Many commentators believe the fig tree represents Israel. Many believe that Jesus was saying when you see Israel back in the land know that the Second Coming is near. Israel had to be destroyed before she could come back into being.

How Long is “This Generation”

The Bible is vague and speculation abounds on this. After many years of saying we don’t know how long a generation is, this ministry has turned to saying, “We believe the terminal generation started in 1948 and it is our opinion that it will last 70 to 80 years.”

The major reason for this change is that we have a better understanding of Psalm 90. It is the first of eleven Psalms that were written by Moses. Many believe it’s the oldest Psalm in the Bible. It begins with a comment about all generations. Moses said, “Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations” (Psalm 90:1).

It talks about God forming or creating the earth (Psalm 90:2). It says, “For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night” (Psalm 90:4). Peter said it this way, “one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day” (II Peter 3:8). Psalm 90 makes a reference to the Flood and the brevity of life (Psalm 90:4-8). It turns to a discussion of our days and years (Psalm 90:9). Then, Moses said, “The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away” (Psalm 90:10).

We will come back to this, but for the time being let’s stick to the remainder of the Psalm. It mentions the anger and wrath of God which could be a reference to the Tribulation Period (Zephaniah 1:14-15; Revelation 6:16-17). It asks God to teach us to number our days that we may use our precious days wisely (Psalm 90:12). It calls upon the Lord to return which could be a reference to the Second Coming at the end of the Tribulation Period and asks how long it will be (Psalm 90:13). Then, it closes with four verses that can well be applied to the Millennium (Psalm 90:14-17).

Now, let’s go back to verse 10 which reads, “The days of our years are threescore years and ten (70 years); and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years (80 years), yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.”

We are not predicting a date, but assuming that the terminal generation started in 1948, and it will be 70 to 80 years long, it appears that God will fulfill everything including the Rapture, Tribulation Period and Second Coming, in 70 or perhaps up to 80 years (by 2018, but He may delay up to 2028). If one subtracts seven years (from 2017 or up to 2018) for the Tribulation Period, and an unspecified amount of time for the period between the Rapture and the beginning of the Tribulation Period, it’s obvious that the Rapture could happen any time.

LastCall: "Let us not sleep, as do others." -Spurgeon

"Let us not sleep, as do others."   1 Thessalonians 5:6

There are many ways of promoting Christian wakefulness. Among the rest, let me strongly advise Christians to converse together concerning the ways of the Lord. Christian and Hopeful, as they journeyed towards the Celestial City, said to themselves, 'To prevent drowsiness in this place, let us fall into good discourse.' Christian enquired, 'Brother, where shall we begin?' And Hopeful answered, 'Where God began with us.' Then Christian sang this song-

'When saints do sleepy grow, let them come hither,
And hear how these two pilgrims talk together;
Yea, let them learn of them, in any wise,
Thus to keep open their drowsy slumb'ring eyes.
Saints' fellowship, if it be managed well,
Keeps them awake, and that in spite of hell.'

Christians who isolate themselves and walk alone, are very liable to grow drowsy. Hold Christian company, and you will be kept wakeful by it, and refreshed and encouraged to make quicker progress in the road to heaven. But as you thus take 'sweet counsel' with others in the ways of God, take care that the theme of your converse is the Lord Jesus. Let the eye of faith be constantly looking unto Him; let your heart be full of Him; let your lips speak of His worth. Friend, live near to the cross, and thou wilt not sleep. Labour to impress thyself with a deep sense of the value of the place to which thou art going.

If thou rememberest that thou art going to heaven, thou wilt not sleep on the road. If thou thinkest that hell is behind thee, and the devil pursuing thee, thou wilt not loiter. Would the manslayer sleep with the avenger of blood behind him, and the city of refuge before him? Christian, wilt thou sleep whilst the pearly gates are open-the songs of angels waiting for thee to join them-a crown of gold ready for thy brow? Ah! no; in holy fellowship continue to watch and pray that ye enter not into temptation.

"Say unto my soul, I am thy salvation."   Psalm 35:3

What does this sweet prayer teach me? It shall be my evening's petition; but first let it yield me an instructive meditation. The text informs me first of all that David had his doubts; for why should he pray, 'Say unto my soul, I am thy salvation,' if he were not sometimes exercised with doubts and fears? Let me, then, be of good cheer, for I am not the only saint who has to complain of weakness of faith.

If David doubted, I need not conclude that I am no Christian because I have doubts. The text reminds me that David was not content while he had doubts and fears, but he repaired at once to the mercy-seat to pray for assurance; for he valued it as much fine gold. I too must labour after an abiding sense of my acceptance in the Beloved, and must have no joy when His love is not shed abroad in my soul.

When my Bridegroom is gone from me, my soul must and will fast. I learn also that David knew where to obtain full assurance. He went to his God in prayer, crying, 'Say unto my soul I am thy salvation.' I must be much alone with God if I would have a clear sense of Jesus' love. Let my prayers cease, and my eye of faith will grow dim. Much in prayer, much in heaven; slow in prayer, slow in progress. I notice that David would not be satisfied unless his assurance had a divine source. 'Say unto my soul.' Lord, do Thou say it ! Nothing short of a divine testimony in the soul will ever content the true Christian.

Moreover, David could not rest unless his assurance had a vivid personality about it. 'Say unto mysoul, I am thy salvation.' Lord, if Thou shouldst say this to all the saints, it were nothing, unless Thou shouldst say it to me. Lord, I have sinned; I deserve not Thy smile; I scarcely dare to ask it; but oh! say to my soul, even to my soul, 'I am thy salvation.' Let me have a present, personal, infallible, indisputable sense that I am Thine, and that Thou art mine.

LastCall: know what God really wants you to do -Daily Hope

Just ask!
by Rick Warren

"If you want to know what God really wants you to do, ask him . . . but if you don't ask in faith, don't expect the Lord to give you any solid answer." James 1:5-6 (LB)

"Have you ever asked God for something and didn't expect to get it? That's why you didn't get it."

The Bible says when we ask God for guidance, we need to believe he will give us that guidance.

Jesus said, "Ask and it shall be given, seek and ye shall find, knock and the door will be opened" (Luke 11:9 NIV). Ask, seek, knock—ASK. God wants you to learn to ask.

God is willing to give wisdom: "If you want to know what God really wants you to do, ask him, and he will gladly tell you, for he is always ready to give a bountiful supply of wisdom to all who ask him; but . . . if you don't ask in faith, don't expect the Lord to give you any solid answer" (James 1: 5-6 LB).

God wants to direct you in life, but two things need to line up:  You have to ask the right person—God, and you have to ask with the right attitude—in faith, expecting an answer.

Have you ever asked God for something and didn't expect to get it? That's why you didn't get it. God works in our lives according to faith. So many times we say, "God, please guide me!" and we walk away not even waiting for guidance. We just immediately start to work. We say, "God, I want you to give me wisdom, help me make the right decision." But we don't really expect Him to do that. We think it all depends on us.

God has promised to give us wisdom, if we will ask. Wisdom is seeing life from God's point of view. Wisdom is the ability to make decisions the way God makes decisions.

Think about this: God never makes a bad decision. He never makes a mistake. He says if we trust Him and listen to Him, He will guide us. But we must ask in faith.
