MikeMacintosh: "I know that you seek Jesus"

But the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you."
Matthew 28:5-7

Many people are plagued with fear. You turn on the nightly news and you see stories about recession, kidnappings, murder, terrorism, brush fires -- and the list goes on. But from the Book of Genesis all the way through Revelation, the Bible declares, "Fear not!" What a contrast this is to the society that you and I live in today.

Some of you might be afraid of what you will face today at work. Or maybe as the month comes to an end, you are afraid that you won't have enough money to cover next month's rent. Let me remind you of the words that the Apostle Paul spoke to Timothy: "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7).

It is Satan who wants you to live in fear, but even as both the angel and Jesus said here in Matthew, God's word for you today is, "Do not be afraid!"

"And the LORD appeared to him the same night and said, "I am the God of your father Abraham; do not fear, for I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your descendants for My servant Abraham's sake" (Genesis 26:24).

"Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father's will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows" (Matthew 10:29-31).
