One Thousand Years: Genesage "Thirst" (Chp 6:6)

One Thousand Years

Genesage

"Thirst"

(Chp 6:6)

"Drink."

The angel said, handing him a round bowl of water,

"This is drawn for the Wells of Salvation."

Looked like water to Tom.

Must be a location,

or so he started thinking.

He filed that thought. He might have to use that as a frame of reference. Location: Wells of Salvation. If “wells” did that mean water was still to be found fresh and clean? The last well he had see had been tinted red with the bacterial algeaic plague of “worms” from the Asteroid Strike: Wormwood.

Tom recalled that one. It hadn’t been long and all the oceans and water systems were contaminated with the Airborne bacterial agent from the Asteroid. It molecularized to the H2O molecule. No one had ever figured out why.  These “microspores”, worm like in appearance when seen in an Electron Image Scanner, had made good ole H2O unfit to drink or use.

It “gelled” red and became almost botulistic in its effect of Life on Earth.

Once the gelled water dried, it returned to red powder everywhere the water had been. Dormant, waiting to affect another H2O molecule.

With the Oceans gone to Red Powder, the Earth looked a lot like Mars now.

Taking the small bowl like cup. Tom almost expected to “See Red” as the Latter Days expression had become.

He sipped the water nervous at first.

Far cry from a coffee cup, he thought, yet he had seen a television show that in some cultures there were bowls used for sipping.

This "bowl" seemed to be similar, yet deeper but still an open face. Tom noticing this then tilted back his head and drank a long draught thinking to down the fluid in the shallow vessel.

Odd. He thought he had.

The cup could hold roughly eight ounces he figured, maybe ten or twelve. He didn't know, about a swallow or two at best.

As Tom looked down in his cup still thirsty.

There was water in it.

Quizzically he glanced at the angel who had no reaction. Shrugging Tom schlurped another gulp of water fully expecting his cup to be empty.

It wasn’t.

Looking again, it was neither half full or half empty, it was full.

That couldn't be but there it was. Water, full, not overflowing. It was surprising enough to Tom that he stuck his finger in it to make sure it was wet.

It was.

He started to pour out the water, yet with the Angel standing there watching his every move, he thought maybe later he would try it. So he drank again, filling his thirst.

"In the Land that was Promised

to the Kind that dwell there,

water drawn from the Wells of Salvation

shall never run dry."

stated the Angel.

Tom really wanted to take his cup pouring out the water to see what would happen.

Maybe set the bowl down upside down. He figured he could do that later. Standing in front of the angel, listening to the impossible told to you as though it were normal, well…,

He didn't think now was the time to admit he had lost his marbles and didn't know where to find them.

Childishly this was fairy tale land with Tom going along for the ride.

The water was good though. It was cold. It seemed as though there was a slight fragrance to it. Tom drank again just to be sure one more time that his cup did not run dry.

It did not.

Which now He really was starting to feel foolish. This did not make sense. It was like Tom felt foolish because he expected the water to be there, rather than expecting it to be empty.

Exactly backwards of what reality ought to be.

It was surprisingly easy to accept the things that did not make sense when they in fact worked. Tom was starting to accept contradictions to his former way of thought. But only because he was quite sure he was mad, or dreaming.

It made acceptance easier.

Convinced you were crazy that is.

Seeing was believing in this case.
