"We are headed to a point where the magnitude of U.S. federal budget deficits will undermineinvestor confidence in the U.S. Treasury."At that point, Williams suggested the Federal Reserve will have to become the U.S. government's lender of last resort, and as the U.S. government monetizes the debt, "we will have no choice but to head down the path of hyperinflation."
